Looking for Spring Break things to do in Forsyth with or without the kiddos?

The City of Forsyth is a popular tourist destination for Georgia and non-Georgians alike. Located just one hour south of Atlanta, Forsyth is one of the more popular family-friendly getaways near the metro area. If you’re looking for a quick getaway, or looking for family break ideas in Georgia, there are plenty of things to do. Looking for some new walking/hiking trails? We have several in and around the City of Forsyth that are accessible year-round. Check out these two local favs!

Stretch your legs on the Cross- Country Trail around the perimeter of the Recreation Department. This 1.6 mile trail winds in and out of forested areas and fields. (I-75 exit 188)

Or follow the tranquil walking path through the tall pines at the City’s Country Club Park. (I-75 exit 186)

Venture outside Forsyth to the Hitchiti Loop Trail near Juliette. This 3.8 mile trail loops by the Ocmulgee River and is good for all skill levels. It’s primarily used for hiking, running, and bird watching. You can bring your fur-baby, just keep them on a leash! (I-75 exit 186)

Ocmulgee River Water Trail is for those that prefer water adventures! Bring your paddleboard or kayak and paddle your way along the longest continuous water trail in Georgia! The rapids found along this trail are Class 1, which means it’s great for beginners, but exciting enough for the more seasoned paddlers.

Want to see waterfalls? Don’t miss High Falls State Park! They offer a variety of well-marked, easy and moderate skill level trails that follow the waterfalls and wind through the forested areas. Want to bring your dog along? Pet friendly if they are kept on a leash. (I-75 exit 198)


The Forsyth Foxhunt is a downtown based scavenger hunt around the historic Square. Small fox statues are hidden around different shops, businesses, and historic buildings, taking you on an adventure through Forsyth. This fox hunt is free and sure to delight all ages! The clues are available when you are! (20 N. Jackson Street, in the outdoor brochure boxes! :: I-75, exit 186 or 187)

Known as “Georgia’s Friendliest Family Fun Farm”, Hamlin Hills will open their season in April with lots of beautiful, luscious strawberries to pick!
