1. Catch the Forsyth-Monroe Chamber’s annual Hometown Holidays Parade on the evening of Thursday, December 4, in Downtown Forsyth. This beloved event features themed floats, cheerful music, dazzling lights, talented dance troupes and so much more! You can even catch a glimpse of Santa and Mrs. Claus at the parade before they head back to the North Pole for the rest of the holiday season. This year’s parade begins at 7:00 p.m. with a fun theme of “A Holiday Movie Celebration – Lights, Camera, Christmas!”
2. Check out the exciting Jingle-N-Mingle & Candy Cane Crawl on Saturday, December 6. This event is a special partnership between Forsyth Main Street, Forsyth Police Department, Forsyth Fire Department, Monroe County Schools and the Sheriff Office’s C.A.R.E. Cottage, to give local children a special holiday celebration. Taking place from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Downtown Forsyth around the Courthouse Square, you can expect Santa Ken Kringle, Christmas vendors, food trucks, music, and a Kid’s Zone! The Kid’s Zone includes a station to write letters to Santa, ornament decorating and Christmas crafts.
3. Attend Let’s Hang On! A Frankie Valli tribute on December 6 at the Monroe County Fine Arts Center. This performance starts at 7:30 and it will take you on a nostalgic journey through the greatest hits of the 1960s! Featuring classics including “Sherry,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “Walk Like a Man” and many holiday tunes, this is a must-see show! You can purchase tickets for this exciting event from the Monroe County Fine Arts Center website.
4. Experience Monroe County Historical Society’s Golden Jubilee Celebration Banquet on December 8 at 6pm. This special banquet will take place at Her Majesty Kitchen, celebrating the society’s 50-year anniversary of preserving Forsyth and Monroe County’s unique stories and legacy. Tickets can be purchased from the Monroe County Historical Society’s website for $45 per person.
5. Attend a performance of Scrooge, the Stingiest Man in Town by The Backlot Players at the Rose Theater. This magical retelling of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol is the perfect way to enjoy the holiday season! Running from December 12 to 14, this is a fantastic performance to attend at the historic Rose Theater. Tickets go on sale on November 24, so mark your calendars now to snag yours!
6. Embark on a historic homes holiday tour with Monroe County Historical Society’s Christmas Tour of Homes on December 13. From 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., patrons will be led through a magical tour of beautiful historic homes located throughout the city. It’s a great way to enjoy the charm of our community during the holiday season. Tickets are $30 per person and can be purchased online ahead of the event. Tickets can be purchased in person at the Welcome Center or Monroe County History Museum.
7. See the Christmas tree in Downtown Forsyth for a truly magical experience! We recommend bringing the whole family out for that perfect holiday photo op.
8. Enjoy open mic night at The Den on Wednesdays or try your hand at Fox City Brewing Company’s karaoke nights that take place on Thursdays. This is a great way to sing festive tunes with your friends and enjoy delicious craft drinks for an unforgettable night out! Don’t miss out on the Social Fox’s 12 Days of Christmas pop-up event!
10. Look for live music every weekend at one of our coveted after-hours spots.
