Welcome to Forsyth Mural

Glad You Made It! Welcome To Forsyth Mural

Our famous Welcome to Forsyth mural depicts an old-fashioned steam engine pulling a line of passenger cars as it stops at the Forsyth train depot. It was designed and painted by the late Andrew Patrick Henry in early 2017.

The train is reminiscent of the first train that ran the 26 miles between Forsyth and Macon, called “The Ocmulgee.” It was the first train in Georgia to carry passengers and freight and had its first trip on December 10, 1838.

This project was funded in part by a Georgia Council of the Arts Vibrant Communities Art Grant and was the first of these grants received by Forsyth.
